The cost of food at an airport differs from airport to airport.

In Los Angeles, I managed to purchase a small soup (of decent size) plus a small bag of chips for about USD$5.

At Nadi, Fiji airport $10 got me 2 pieces of toast, 1 large bag of Twisties (cheese chip like snacks) and a small bottle of juice for USD$10. There only seemed to be 2 purveyors of food at the airport, one in the middle and a small cafe near the back left.

Fiji bottled water is the cheapest drink you can buy and there didn’t seem to be any water fountains.

Los Angeles – last minute costs June 21, 2011

Travel Bunny stayed in Los Angeles mid June 2011 after missing her flight from LAX (Los Angeles Airport), here is a summary of the associated travel costs for anyone else in a last minute situation (like midnight!):

Accommodation

Holiday Inn Express LAX – USD$133.46/night

(Room rate: $117 + taxes of $16.46, note that during winter/off season price can be approximately half this rate)

Transportation 

Free shuttle to/from LAX (Los Angeles Airport).

No metro station close by, did not attempt to try the bus system.

Food

Chicken nuggets & fries @ Golden Horseshoe (Disneyland, Frontierland) – $9.23

Travel Bunny stayed in Quebec City early May 2011, here is a summary of the associated travel costs:

Accommodation

La Belle Planete Backpacker Hostel – CAD$30/night

(note: price on Hostelbookers did not include 5% GST or 7.5% TVQ (Quebec sales tax), price above does include taxes)

Transportation 

Downtown & historic Quebec City  is very walkable, no local transportation was taken.

Return bus ticket to/from Montreal with Orléans Express as a student (valid ID required): CAD$74.40

Food

Lunch special @ le Cochon Dingue (historic centre) – CAD $20 (including taxes & tip)
